Authorities claim the Foremans “entered Iran under the pretext of being tourists” and were engaged in “collecting information across various provinces.” This couple, both 52 years old, entered Iran from Armenia on December 30, intending to explore for just five days as part of their global adventure, reported the Guardian.

The UK Foreign Office has confirmed its awareness of the situation and stated, “We are providing consular assistance and maintaining close communication with their family.” Currently, the Foremans have been held in the Kerman province since their arrest.
