Tragedy struck in Scottsdale, Arizona, when a business jet was involved in a collision after landing, resulting in one death and several injuries on February 10, 2025.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that a Learjet 35A, owned by Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, veered off the runway while arriving at Scottsdale Municipal Airport shortly after 2:45 p.m. The jet made contact with a Gulfstream 200 that was parked on private property, as confirmed at a press conference.

According to an airport representative, the left main landing gear of Neil’s jet malfunctioned during the landing process. It’s notable that Neil was not onboard, as stated by his spokesperson; the aircraft had taken off from Austin, Texas.

Five individuals were aboard the Learjet, revealed Capt. Dave Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department. Unfortunately, one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transferred to a nearby hospital. One individual declined any medical assistance, Folio noted.

Mötley Crüe released a statement confirming that the deceased was the pilot. Neil’s girlfriend and her friend sustained injuries, but fortunately, their conditions are not life-threatening, according to the band.

The investigation into the incident has been handed over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

This incident coincided with the busy PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open weekend in Scottsdale, a peak time for airport activity.

As highlighted on the airport’s website, there are no commercial airline services at Scottsdale Municipal Airport, which primarily caters to regional corporate jets.
