Top Areas in Washington, DC That Received the Most Snowfall

Residents in the Washington, D.C. area were greeted by a fresh blanket of snow following a recent winter storm that moved through the region from Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. Curious about which neighborhoods received the highest snowfall?

On Tuesday, the D.C. area experienced its second major snowstorm of the season, which brought over 8 inches of snow to several locales situated further south of the capital.

Similar to the first snowfall this winter, Southern Maryland emerged as a standout location, alongside certain parts of Northern Virginia, particularly in Prince William and Stafford counties.

While this storm closely matched the area’s initial winter weather event, it ultimately delivered slightly less snow accumulation. Here are snowfall reports documented by trained observers from the National Weather Service:

Adams Morgan, D.C. — 5.5 inches
Fort Washington, Maryland — 8 inches
Springfield, Virginia — 7.5 inches
La Plata, Maryland — 8.7 inches

East Clements, St. Mary’s County, Maryland — 11.3 inches
Reagan National Airport — 6.4 inches
Leonardtown, Maryland — 10 inches
Stafford, Virginia — 10.5 inches

Despite the substantial snowfall, the snow may not stick around for long. According to forecasts, rain is expected throughout much of Wednesday and into Thursday morning, with temperatures reaching around 50 degrees on Thursday.
