SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The spotlight during the final pregame introduction shone brightly on Stephen Curry. In a heartfelt moment, he lifted the coveted MVP trophy high above his head, perfectly capping off his memorable All-Star Game experience in his hometown.

This was his arena, surrounded by devoted fans, making it a truly unforgettable moment — just one of many in his illustrious career.

Curry has earned every bit of the adulation following a remarkable journey from Oakland to San Francisco as a standout for the Golden State Warriors.

“This weekend has been incredibly special,” Curry remarked. “It symbolizes my entire journey. While I hope we have plenty more to achieve on the court, this 16-year tenure in the only place I’ve called home is a wonderful celebration of basketball in this community.”

Kicking things off, Curry scored the game’s first points with a 3-pointer and later impressive half-court shot, celebrating with a chest-bump alongside rapper Mistah Fab as he sprinted down the court. He contributed significantly to Shaq’s OGs, defeating Chuck’s Global Stars 41-25 on Sunday, wrapping up the match with 12 points from four 3-pointers.

The energy at the Chase Center was electric as fans chanted “MVP! MVP!” while he accepted the trophy.

Having secured an Olympic gold medal in August, followed by this All-Star win just six months later, Curry prepares to mark his 37th birthday next month.

During a break in the game, Curry took the microphone to express his gratitude, feeling “blessed” to host the All-Star Game at the 5-year-old Chase Center — an experience that the Warriors had long envisioned.

Before initiating his pregame shooting routine — accompanied by Anthony Edwards but without his usual passing partner, Warriors assistant coach Bruce Fraser — Curry kicked the ball to Edwards.

In a fresh format for the NBA midseason classic, Shaquille O’Neal selected Curry’s team, who faced off against Candace’s Rising Stars in the opening game. The format was simple: no quarters and no clock, with the first team to reach 40 points declared the winner.

This moment was a fitting conclusion for Curry, after a weekend filled with celebrations, practices, and community engagements.

“Hosting the All-Star experience was incredible. Although it was exhausting, I won’t complain. It’s a true honor to share and celebrate the beautiful Bay Area, which has been a significant part of my life for the last 16 years — in terms of basketball history, culture, and the amazing fans,” Curry stated, emphasizing the profound impact of holding the event in both cities. “It has been an awesome experience from start to finish.”

This marked Curry’s 11th selection to the All-Star Game and his 10th overall appearance.
