Attention Hunters,

As we step into 2025, we are excited to introduce an initiative centered on enhancing performance, resolving issues, and building player trust. Today, we aim to address various concerns related to new features, overall game balance, and our plans to tackle these challenges in upcoming updates.

Starting with Update 2.3, we will be reversing several past decisions that contributed to the power imbalance of certain weapons and Traits. Additionally, we will address persistent problems affecting gameplay and prioritize stability, bug fixes, and performance enhancements for a more seamless experience.

Here are some key changes you can anticipate with Update 2.3:

  • The Lightfoot Trait will no longer permit silent crouching for solo Hunters.
  • Revive Bolts will now be classified as Scarce, obtainable only from deceased Hunters, and will come with reduced ammunition (further revisions are planned for future updates).
  • The Krag’s extra ammunition capacity will be reduced from 12 to 10 (previously 8 last year), and its cost will increase to 450 Hunt Dollars to encourage a broader range of weapon choices.
  • The Uppercut will see a price reduction, now costing 310 Hunt Dollars.
  • The Surefoot Trait will no longer provide increased crouch speed and will rise in cost to 6 Upgrade Points.
  • It will now take three Bear Traps to eliminate an enemy Hunter, allowing players to avoid easily setting up instant-kills without relying on explosive barrels, additional traps found in the environment, or the Frontiersman Trait.
  • Melee Tools will inflict greater damage on Targets, and more melee weapons will spawn near Boss Target lairs once again.
  • Damage from stuck projectiles has been restored to a substantial level. We will discuss its implications for Traits like Blademancer and Berserker in the future.

We’ve dedicated significant effort to resolve some challenging long-term bugs:

  • We’ve restructured the poison damage system to ensure effects dissipate correctly.
  • Hanging chains and sound traps will no longer obstruct attacks during combat.
  • Concertina wire will no longer damage players through walls or ceilings.

Additionally, look forward to the following changes in 2.3:

  • The Fast Fingers Trait has been introduced for the Martini-Henry IC1 and Maynard Sniper families.
  • The Bolt Thrower Trait will now also apply to the Bomb Lance and Bomb Launcher.
  • Weekly Challenges will now feature random sets each week to minimize the dominance of individual weapons.
  • The Conduit Trait will grant solo Hunters double the stamina reward and will progress two Clue steps with a single interaction.
  • The Vetterli will benefit from an improved rate of fire in ADS with the Iron Eye Trait, while the Centennial’s rate of fire will be slightly reduced.
  • Players will now have the ability to disarm and reclaim Dark Dynamite Satchels, placing them back in their inventory (if they have an open slot).

As mentioned last year, Update 2.3 will introduce fewer new features and content while concentrating on essential bug fixes and enhancements. Our primary focus will be on ensuring stability and improved performance, significantly enhancing your gameplay experience.

As we progress through 2025, new Events will still be introduced, but at a reduced frequency. Our priority will remain on implementing those vital improvements instead of focusing solely on new content.

We are confident that this approach will help us consolidate and stabilize the game. More details about Update 2.3 and future Events will be shared as we approach their release.
