Kyrie Irving secures his ninth All-Star selection, stepping in for the injured Anthony Davis.

Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks has been appointed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to take the place of the injured Anthony Davis on Team Shaq for the upcoming 2025 NBA All-Star Game.

This marks Irving’s ninth selection to the NBA All-Star team. He is currently averaging 24.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 47.5% from the field, 40.7% from beyond the arc, and 90.1% from the free-throw line through 42 games this season.

Due to a left adductor strain, Davis is unable to compete in the All-Star Game. The ten-time All-Star was selected for Team Shaq by its general manager, the renowned TNT analyst Shaquille O’Neal.

The 74th NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, at Chase Center in San Francisco, and will feature a new format: a four-team, three-game mini-tournament, airing at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
