The remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues, with the game achieving sales of 2 million units within just two weeks of its release.
This milestone was announced in a tweet from Warhorse Studios, the game’s developer, who celebrated its success as a “triumph,” echoing the same sentiment they expressed when the game quickly sold 1 million copies just a day post-launch after its launch.
This impressive achievement marks a significant moment for Warhorse Studios’ medieval-themed action RPG, which made its debut on February 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
According to Embracer Group, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, the game performed especially well on Steam, reaching a peak concurrent player count of over 250,000. For comparison, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a top concurrent player count of 96,069 seven years ago.
It’s important to note that the actual peak player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 could be even higher, considering its availability on both console and PC. However, neither Sony nor Microsoft disclose player statistics publicly.
Embracer, which oversees Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, celebrated the game’s initial success, stating that it has been well-received by both players and critics, as well as performing impressively in sales.
Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors remarked, “This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our development team at Warhorse Studios and our publisher, Deep Silver.”
He added, “We firmly believe that the game will continue to generate significant revenue in the coming years, reflecting the outstanding quality, immersive experience, and broad appeal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Warhorse Studios has planned an extensive roadmap featuring updates and new content over the next year, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for players.
Wingefors concluded, “We take immense pride in the teams who contributed to the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has exceeded our expectations.”
The post-launch plan for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 includes three expansions set to launch in 2025. Players can look forward to free updates in spring, which will introduce a Barbers feature offering additional customization, as well as Hardcore Mode and Horse Racing. Summer will see the arrival of the first paid expansion, Brushes with Death, where protagonist Henry collaborates with a mysterious artist with a hidden past.
In autumn, the Legacy of the Forge expansion will delve into Henry’s backstory, exploring the history of his adoptive father Martin. Lastly, winter will bring Mysteria Ecclesia, where Henry embarks on a clandestine mission involving the intricate dynamics of the Sedlec Monastery.
