Kadarius Toney was taken into custody last week following an incident in January where he allegedly assaulted a woman by putting his hand around her throat.

According to court documents reviewed by The Post, the former wide receiver for the Chiefs and a first-round draft pick of the Giants reportedly applied enough pressure to the woman’s neck on January 14 in Douglasville, Georgia, making her unable to breathe and leaving visible red marks. This also resulted in Petechial Hemorrhaging in her eyes.

Furthermore, Toney is accused of trying to prevent the victim from calling 911 by seizing her phone, as reported by TMZ Sports.

On January 15, warrants were issued against him for Obstructing and Harassing 911 Calls as well as Aggravated Assault-Strangulation. Toney was arrested by officials in Douglas County on February 6.

Records indicate that the 26-year-old’s bail was set at $25,000; per Douglas County records, he was not in custody as of January 7.

The alleged incident occurred shortly after the Browns released the troubled receiver following a game on December 8 against the Steelers, where he incurred a 15-yard penalty for taunting and mishandled a punt, contributing to Cleveland’s loss and elimination from playoff contention.

The team let him go just two days later.

Originally drafted by the Giants in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Toney’s tenure with the team was plagued by injuries and various incidents both on and off the field over two seasons. These challenges continued when he was traded to the Chiefs in October 2022.

Even though Toney was part of two Super Bowl championship teams with Kansas City, issues such as injuries, inconsistent performance, and questions surrounding his health ultimately led to his release before the commencement of the 2024 season.

He later signed with the Browns as a practice squad player, but his time on the active roster spanned just three games before Cleveland decided to part ways with him.

In his NFL career, spanning 33 games over five seasons, Toney has recorded 760 receiving yards from 82 receptions, three touchdown catches, as well as 112 rushing yards on 22 attempts with one rushing touchdown.
