Kia has officially unveiled its latest innovation, the PV5 electric van, providing us with an exciting glimpse of this advanced vehicle. As part of the automaker’s upcoming series of specialized electric vans, the PV5 is positioned to compete with notable models like the Volkswagen ID.Buzz and the Ford E-Transit. Take a closer look at its features below.
Introducing the Kia PV5 Electric Van
The PV5 concept was first revealed at CES last January, shortly after Kia announced its groundbreaking Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV).
This model stands alongside the larger PV7 and smaller PV1, marking a unique approach as it utilizes a dedicated electric vehicle platform (PBV), unlike competitors such as Ford’s E-Transit. This adaptable modular framework is integral to Kia’s strategy to excel in the electric van market.
After providing teasers for the production model last week, Kia finally revealed the PV5’s exterior design on Thursday. The vehicle will be available in various configurations, including Passenger and Cargo versions.
Kia plans to unveil an additional model on its upcoming EV Day scheduled for February 24. As evident, Kia is demonstrating a strong commitment to this line.
The PV5 boasts a striking, almost futuristic exterior. According to Kia, the design of this electric van “transcends the boundaries of traditional light commercial vehicles.”

Large windows covering the entire Passenger variant contribute to its contemporary aesthetic while enhancing visibility while driving.
Bold black geometric wheel arch claddings and rocker panels lend the PV5 a slightly rugged, adventurous character, seamlessly connecting its high-tech upper section with a more utilitarian lower body.

The Cargo model, while sharing a similar design, features a boxy outline for increased interior space, catering perfectly to delivery services and recreational users alike. Kia has also integrated twin side-opening tailgate doors for enhanced loading and unloading convenience.
Further specifications, including details on the powertrain and seating configurations, will be disclosed during Kia’s EV Day next week. This event is set to take place in Tarragona, Spain, on February 24, with official details available on February 27. Stay tuned for more updates on the Kia PV5.

At this event, Kia will also unveil the EV4 electric sedan along with hatchback models and an affordable EV2 concept.
The PV5 was recently spotted undergoing testing in the US, building anticipation for its official launch. The images, shared with Electrek by Alex Nguyen, feature a design reminiscent of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.
The PV5 Cargo Compact concept measures 177.2 inches in length, 74.8 inches in width, and 74.8 inches in height. However, the standard Passenger and Cargo versions will be larger. For comparison, the US-spec ID.Buzz (LWB) is 195.4 inches long, 78.1 inches wide, and 76.2 inches tall, while Ford’s E-Transit measures 237.6 inches long, 81.3 inches wide, and 83.9 inches tall.
