Musician and producer Grimes recently shared her thoughts about her former partner and the father of her three children, Elon Musk, after their 4-year-old son made an appearance with the tech entrepreneur at the White House on Wednesday.

During a press event in the Oval Office, Trump announced an executive order aimed at streamlining federal agencies as part of Musk’s initiative, dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Under Trump’s guidance, Musk and his staff have been actively analyzing various government operations, seeking opportunities to trim unnecessary expenditures, while Musk asserted that DOGE has identified “billions in waste and fraud.”

As Musk detailed his recent government work, discussing the impact on numerous public servants, he had his young son, X Æ A-Xii, affectionately referred to as “X,” by his side. Throughout the press conference, X interacted playfully with his father, even whispering to Trump and poking Musk’s ears during serious discussions about significant staff reductions in government roles.

This situation evidently did not sit well with Grimes, born Claire Elise Boucher. Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), she addressed a post that highlighted her son’s White House experience and mentioned how well-behaved he seemed.

“He shouldn’t be in such a public setting,” Grimes tweeted. “I wasn’t aware of this—thanks for bringing it to my attention. But it’s nice to know he was polite. Sigh.”

Grimes, aged 36, and the 53-year-old Musk were romantically linked from 2018 to 2022, and they are parents to three children: X Æ A-Xii, 3-year-old Exa Dark Sideræl, and 2-year-old Tau Techno Mechanicus. Although Grimes usually maintains a low profile regarding Musk’s activities, she recently addressed the public discourse surrounding a controversial incident where Musk was perceived to be giving a Nazi salute during Trump’s inauguration parade, which prompted criticism for her silence.

“It’s ridiculous to be held accountable for something my ex did before I even became aware of it,” Grimes stated on X, which is now part of Musk’s portfolio. “I am not him and won’t comment every time he acts out. My focus is on sending positivity back into a hurting world. To clarify, I could easily criticize him and gain media attention, positioning myself as a feminist icon, but that wouldn’t truly help. My priority is my children’s wellbeing.”
