Over 100 residents were safely evacuated from a luxury condominium tower in Buenos Aires, Argentina, following a fire that erupted across multiple floors, according to emergency service officials.
Forty individuals were treated for smoke inhalation, and several were hospitalized as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The high-rise building, featuring 50 floors, is situated in the upscale Puerto Madero district. Alberto Crescenti, the commander of Buenos Aires emergency services, reported that the fire had spread up to the 15th floor. He noted that broken glass could be seen falling from the windows. “Fortunately, the evacuation was prompt, ensuring the safety of the residents,” he commented.
Firefighter Christian Benitez assured AFP that all residents were out of harm’s way. Ornella Gril, a 30-year-old resident, recounted her experience: “I heard the alarm and quickly made my way downstairs.”
Mariano Pavone, a former football player known for his time at River Plate and Real Betis, shared his experience with Noticias Argentinas. “I noticed smoke and hurried down with my son and my dog. Thankfully, my apartment is untouched. I worry for my neighbors, but I’m relieved it turned out to be just a frightening experience.”
