The Fell Omen bosses in Elden Ring have gained quite a notorious reputation, making their return in Elden Ring Nightreign a thrilling development for players in the Lands Between.
One particularly memorable foe is Morgott. Players encountered him later in the original campaign, and his phantom forms provided unexpected challenges throughout the game. In Nightreign, an unnamed Fell Omen—a more powerful version of Morgott—can invade unsuspecting players, catching them off guard.
While Morgott is not the sole boss capable of invading during Nightreign, his role as an invader feels particularly fitting. His surprise appearances align perfectly with his behavior in Elden Ring, and he features additional voice lines and new abilities to challenge players even further. After all, bringing two friends into battle warrants Morgott to have an upgraded arsenal!
In addition to ambushing players, the Fell Omen can also serve as a climactic boss encounter, providing players with a formidable challenge as night falls in the Elden Ring Nightreign test.
How did Morgott even manage to sneak into Nightreign to fight us? Generational hater—this is like the 5th time! pic.twitter.com/t7euCmkBRy

Numerous early testers, including the player behind the iconic “Let Me Solo Her,” engaged with the Fell Omen during the Nightreign sessions held over the past weekend. Overall, feedback pointed to Morgott, Margit, or the Fell Omen as a formidable and memorable adversary.
Contributors on the Elden Ring Nightreign subreddit expressed their enthusiasm for Morgott’s invasion style, considering it among their favorite game elements. Other threads revealed locations where invasions occurred, highlighting that Morgott could ambush players anywhere—from night bosses to elevators and towers—often leading to amusing situations.
Morgott’s unexpected invasions have sparked excitement for the potential inclusion of other classic enemies who could launch surprise attacks. Fans have proposed candidates like the Pursuer from Dark Souls 2. Personally, I’d love to see Hunters invade and try to eliminate players, even though anything related to Bloodborne feels like a long shot at the moment.

There may be additional mechanics tied to Fell Omen invasions. GamesRadar reported an incident where Morgott eliminated one of their co-op allies, seemingly leaving behind a curse mark on the defeated player. The potential for further development in this game is incredibly exciting, especially as more players have the opportunity to dive in.
Although the initial network test faced issues with server stability, players still enjoyed exploring the Lands Between over the weekend. Fans will need to wait until May 30 to fully experience how Nightreign unfolds. In the meantime, check out our exclusive impressions of Elden Ring Nightreign here.
