Oppo has introduced the Find N5, heralded as the slimmest foldable smartphone globally. It is set to roll out in various markets worldwide, including regions in Europe and Asia, at a price of $2,499 SGD (approximately $1,867 USD). This price point positions it above competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold in Singapore; however, adjustments for storage may bring it into a similar range. Unfortunately, the device will not be available in the U.S., as its sister brand OnePlus has confirmed that it will not release a foldable model this year.
The Find N5 outperforms its rivals in terms of thickness when closed, measuring just 8.93mm, making it slimmer than last year’s Honor Magic V3 and slightly thicker than an iPhone 16 Pro by less than a millimeter. When unfolded, it reaches an astounding 4.21mm at its thinnest, a feat that required Oppo to customize the USB-C port to ensure compatibility. This measurement is marginally thicker than Huawei’s 3.6mm trifold Mate XT, which also had a recent global launch.
This new smartphone boasts IPX6, X8, and X9 ratings, providing resistance to both immersion and splashes but lacking protection against dust or dirt—an important consideration for foldable devices. Additionally, Oppo has engineered the display crease to be both narrower and shallower, making it less noticeable during use.
A robust 5,600mAh battery graces the Find N5, considerably ample for its compact size, allowing for up to two days of usage during my evaluation featured in my review. Notably, Oppo has incorporated wireless charging, a feature absent in the previous Find N3 (the N4 was skipped due to superstitions around the number in China).
Powering the device is a 7-core edition of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, available in a single configuration that includes 16GB of RAM paired with 512GB of storage. The camera system, carrying the Hasselblad brand, impresses with features like a 50-megapixel main camera, a telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera.
The Find N5 will be available in Europe and Asia, with Singapore being the only location confirmed for release on February 28th. There were hopes for a U.S. debut under the OnePlus name—the Find N3 was launched in the U.S. as the OnePlus Open—but it has been confirmed that OnePlus will not be bringing this model to the U.S., leaving American consumers without an option for this generation of foldables.
