Bungie has officially announced that Exotic Glaives and class-specific Swords will now be accessible across all character classes in Destiny 2.
The recent episode of Destiny 2 titled Heresy has introduced a wealth of new content for players, including engaging Hive narratives, diverse activities, and exciting gear. However, players quickly discovered that Exotic Glaives and certain Swords, which were previously restricted to specific classes, are now available to everyone.
Initially, Bungie recognized the issue, suggesting it was the result of a glitch rather than an intentional design change. Rather than rushing to rectify the problem, they encouraged players to enjoy the temporary freedom. Now, the developer has made it clear that this feature is here to stay.

Update on Class-Specific Exotic Glaives and Swords in Destiny 2
In the latest This Week in Destiny update, Bungie confirmed the bug related to class-specific exotic Glaives and legendary Swords is now a permanent addition to the game. Initially, they planned to correct this issue but changed their minds after observing player enthusiasm.
Bungie explained that the availability of these items to all classes was a consequence of backend modifications to the weapon and reward systems. During these updates, the restrictions on Exotic Glaives and some Swords were unintentionally lifted. Instead of reverting the change, the development team chose to adopt this new direction.
“We’ve received significant positive feedback regarding the removal of these restrictions,” Bungie stated in their blog. “Our first instinct was to fix what we saw as an issue to maintain the strong class-based identity within Destiny, yet the community’s excitement led us to a different conclusion.”
“After internal discussions, we decided to embrace the change. This is a prime example of a bug evolving into a feature.”
The class-specific legendary swords and exotic Glaives in Destiny 2 include:
- Quickfang
- Crown Splitter
- Eternity’s Edge
- Edge Of Intent
- Edge Of Action
- Edge Of Concurrence

With this latest update, Hunters can wield Titan and Warlock Glaives, while Titans have the opportunity to utilize Quickfang for a stealthy combat approach. Bungie did caution that some animations may appear unusual since they were not originally designed for all character classes.
In other news regarding Bungie, Sony has addressed the significant $200M lawsuit filed by former Marathon game director Chris Barrett, revealing disturbing text messages he sent to lower-level female employees.
