College freshman Jaren Barajas has gained national attention after triumphing in a shooting contest against Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard, securing a cash prize of $100,000 in the process.

Barajas faced off against Lillard during the MrBeast $100,000 Challenge, coinciding with the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. The 18-year-old accomplished what he described as a “life-changing” shot.

In this thrilling contest, Barajas needed to sink a three-pointer from the logo at half-court before Lillard could complete three shots. The seasoned guard had already made two successful attempts when Barajas stunned the crowd with a buzzer-beater as time expired, igniting a wave of excitement among fans at Chase Center.

Among the spectators were legends like Shaquille O’Neal, who jubilantly embraced Barajas, and Steph Curry, who reacted in disbelief from his courtside seat.

“This is going to mean the world to me; it’s going to help my family immensely and definitely influence my future,” stated Barajas, a student at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California, as reported by The Associated Press. “I hope this helps in covering my educational expenses.”

Following his incredible shot, Barajas was hoisted onto the shoulders of mascots and celebrated with a cascade of cash.

“It was intense; he made it just as the clock expired,” remarked nine-time All-Star Lillard, who unfortunately was unable to win his third consecutive three-point contest as the Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro clinched the title. “I cherish moments like this where I can make a difference in someone else’s life.”

Following the challenge hosted by YouTube sensation MrBeast, the NBA announced its commitment to donate $50,000 to Lillard’s scholarship fund along with another $50,000 to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oakland and San Francisco.
