Beneficiaries can look forward to the upcoming round of Social Security payments arriving in just a few days. While your payment week generally remains consistent each month, the specifics of your payment date can be somewhat complex. Let’s break it down for you.
Currently, many beneficiaries are enjoying a slight increase in their monthly payments due to the 2.5% COLA increase. Recipients of Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance have also seen their payments boosted. If you’re uncertain about when to expect your check, you’ve come to the right resource.

What is the payment schedule for Social Security in February?
Curious about when you’ll receive your payment this month? Below is the Social Security and SSDI payment schedule for February.
February 2025 Social Security Payment Schedule
Beneficiaries receiving Social Security prior to May 1997 | February 3 |
---|---|
Birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month | February 12 |
Birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month | February 19 |
Birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month | February 26 |
How is my Social Security payment date established?
Typically, Social Security payments are distributed starting on the second Wednesday of every month, with two additional payments sent on the following two Wednesdays. Your specific payment week is determined by your birthdate, with one notable exception I will elaborate on below.
Birthdays between: | Payment date |
---|---|
1st and 10th | 2nd Wednesday of the month |
11th and 20th | 3rd Wednesday of the month |
21st and 31st | 4th Wednesday of the month |
Will other government benefits arrive on the same day?
If you have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, your payment schedule is not based on your birthdate. Rather, you’ll receive payments every month on specific dates with a few exceptions that we will discuss below.
Social Security payments are typically issued on the 3rd of each month, while SSI payments are provided on the 1st. Occasionally, these dates may shift if they coincide with a weekend or holiday. For instance, last year’s March 3 payment fell on a weekend, resulting in early distribution on March 1 for recipients.
The only benefits that follow the same schedule are Social Security and Social Security Disability Insurance.
What to do if my Social Security check does not arrive?
If your check does not arrive as scheduled, the Social Security Administration recommends waiting an additional three mailing days before reaching out to them. If it still hasn’t arrived, you can call the national toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213.
The SSA advises that “wait times to speak with a representative are generally shorter in the morning, later in the week, and towards the end of the month.”
If you experience challenges contacting the SSA via the national number, you can use their office locator to find a local office for assistance.
