While AMD has dismissed claims about a 32 GB variant of the Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU, speculation suggests that the company may introduce this version under a new designation: the Radeon RX 9070 XTX.
Radeon RX 9070 XTX: The Potential Name for AMD’s 32 GB “RDNA 4” GPU
Recently, a new report emerged indicating AMD’s intention to roll out an RDNA 4 GPU featuring an impressive 32 GB of memory. This GPU was rumored to be a non-PRO version associated with the Radeon RX 9070 XT. However, AMD quickly clarified that there would be no 32 GB edition of the Radeon RX 9070 XT. Nevertheless, the whispers surrounding this significant memory variant persist.
A leak from Chiphell’s “Zhangzhonghao“, known for reliable AMD insights, suggests that AMD may be rebranding its anticipated 32 GB RDNA 4 model. Instead of being named the Radeon RX 9070 XT, this model is rumored to be named the Radeon RX 9070 XTX. Historically, the XTX variants are the top-tier models, boasting enhanced cores, clock speeds, or memory specifications. While AMD enhanced the specs of its XTX versions in the RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 generations, the RDNA 4 might focus primarily on memory and clock speed improvements, given that the full Navi 48 die is already utilized in the 9070 XT.
If confirmed, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XTX would double the memory of its XT counterpart and likely provide a mild increase in clock speeds along with a slightly elevated thermal design power (TDP). This card is anticipated to excel in AI tasks, leveraging the advanced AI and machine learning cores integrated into the RDNA 4 architecture.

Additionally, Benchlife verified through its sources at AIBs that, despite AMD’s denial regarding the 32 GB Radeon RX 9070 XT, work continues on developing products equipped with 32 GB GDDR6 memory utilizing the same Navi 48 die.
Even though Frank Azor stated that there would not be a 32 GB GDDR6 memory option for the Radeon RX 9070 XT, our insiders have confirmed that AMD is actively working on products featuring 32 GB GDDR6 memory alongside AIB partners. The GPU chip utilized is code-named Navi 48, which is the same as that in the Radeon RX 9070 series.
The AMD Radeon RX 9000 “RDNA 4” graphics cards are set to have a complete reveal on February 28th, with retail availability expected on March 6th. Stay tuned for the latest updates about AMD’s upcoming discrete graphics card lineup.
