The anticipation builds as the next iPhone launch approaches later this year, with numerous speculations swirling around its design and camera features. Recent reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro models may debut a revamped rear camera design featuring an altered bump. Notably, Jon Prosser has released 3D renders that provide a glimpse of what these devices might ultimately look like.

Insights into the Rumored iPhone 17 Pro Camera Design

In a recent video on the Front Page Tech channel, Prosser unveiled renders crafted from insider information. While earlier concepts hinted at different camera arrangements, Prosser states that the positioning of the three lenses on the iPhone’s back will largely remain unchanged. However, the design itself is set to evolve, transitioning from a square bump to a sleek “camera bar” located on the back of the device.

The new camera bar, as depicted in the latest renders, is considerably taller compared to previous designs. The arrangement places the three lenses on the left, while the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensor are neatly positioned on the right. Earlier designs proposed a horizontal alignment for the lenses, which seems to have shifted in this latest iteration.

Additionally, a recent leak disclosed a vision of the possibly redesigned iPhone 17 Air’s back, featuring a wide camera bar stretching across the entire width of the device.

Prosser clarified that previous interpretations regarding a “two-tone” effect on the phone’s back may have been inaccurate. He suggests that the back of the iPhone 17 Pro will retain a uniform color, although the camera bar itself will feature a notably darker hue. Furthermore, sources indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro is likely to be lighter than its predecessors.

As always, it is wise to approach these rumors with some skepticism. While Prosser has accurately predicted features for upcoming Apple products in the past, he has also been wrong about certain models, including the new Mac mini and the iPhone 14.

Nonetheless, these insights certainly imply that Apple is contemplating significant alterations to the design of the iPhone’s rear camera. Whether the lenses will be arranged horizontally or if the wide bar design will persist remains to be seen. We may have to wait until we see the first protective cases for the iPhone 17 series to gain further clarity.
