BRUSSELS — As global leaders intensify their efforts to create a unified strategy in response to Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to resolve the Ukraine conflict, a second emergency summit is set to take place in Paris on Wednesday.
A select group of European leaders, including representatives from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, convened in the French capital on Monday. This gathering followed their surprise at Trump’s recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which left them feeling sidelined.
While the next meeting has yet to be officially confirmed, two European officials indicated on Tuesday evening that it is likely to proceed. A spokesperson for the French government remarked, “At this moment, we are unable to provide any specifics regarding the meeting.”
In addition to the leaders from Monday’s session, the upcoming talks are expected to include representatives from the EU member states of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden, and Belgium, along with both Canada and Norway, who are NATO allies. This information was first reported by Reuters.
