The Apple Vision Pro has recently celebrated its first anniversary, and it may soon receive the most significant upgrade yet—without any new hardware necessary.
Reports indicate that Apple Intelligence could soon be integrated into the Apple Vision Pro. When this innovative suite of AI functionalities was introduced by Apple last June, it was limited to devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Currently, Apple Intelligence can be found on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 16 Pro; M-series iPad Pro and iPad Air; the latest iPad mini; and M-series Macs. However, Apple did not commit to extending these features to the Vision Pro in any future updates.
As I noted a few days ago:
The biggest potential for Apple Vision Pro, apart from factors like price and weight, is its operation on Apple’s second-generation M-series processor, which currently lacks support for Apple Intelligence.
Nonetheless, there is a possibility that Apple could incorporate Apple Intelligence into the existing Apple Vision Pro model without needing a hardware refresh. The device has just completed its first year in the United States, and it has been reaching international markets over the past 12 months.
According to a new rumor from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, it now seems plausible that the Apple Vision Pro may actually receive Apple’s AI capabilities. If this materializes, it would come as a delightful surprise for users of the $3500 headset.
This speculation follows a recent report that suggests three new Siri functionalities powered by Apple Intelligence might not be fully developed in time for the release of iOS 18.4.
Stay tuned for more updates, as we anticipate a wave of Apple news in the upcoming days, including a product launch on Wednesday that Apple has already announced.
