Belal Muhammad is set to defend his welterweight championship title for the very first time against the rising contender Jack Della Maddalena. This match will headline the newly announced UFC 315, scheduled for May 10 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
In addition to the main event, former champion Valentina Shevchenko will defend her flyweight title against Manon Fiorot in a thrilling co-main event. The fight card also features an exciting bout between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales.
UFC CEO Dana White unveiled these matchups during a live session on Instagram on Wednesday evening.
Muhammad’s clash with Della Maddalena comes after the UFC was unable to secure a fight with Shavkat Rakhmonov, who is sidelined due to an injury.
Big thanks to the UFC for offering me the shot at the belt first. Unfortunately, due to injury, I won’t be ready for May. I’ll be facing the winner later this year!

As a result, Della Maddalena has stepped in to take on Muhammad, which has led to his withdrawal from the UFC London main event where he was originally slated to face Leon Edwards. Edwards will now compete against Sean Brady instead.
Muhammad makes his title defense after recovering from a severe foot injury that kept him out of the ring in December during UFC 310. He now takes on Della Maddalena, who boasts an unblemished record of 7-0 in the UFC.
For the co-main event, Shevchenko steps away from her rivalry with Alexa Grasso and will defend her flyweight championship against Fiorot, who is on a seven-fight winning streak in the UFC, including notable victories over Erin Blanchfield and Rose Namajunas.
UFC 315 is set to take place at Bell Centre in Montreal on May 10, with the event broadcasting live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
