Late Friday night, two police officers in Virginia tragically lost their lives during a routine traffic stop, as confirmed by local authorities.
The Virginia Beach Police Department shared the heartbreaking news in a statement on social media on Saturday morning.
“At this moment, we cannot disclose many details as the investigation is ongoing,” the police department stated. “We do want to reassure the community that there is no continuing threat.”

The police have requested community members to be patient as they continue the investigation and take time to “mourn the loss of their colleagues.”

“While we await additional details, please join me in keeping their families and the Virginia Beach Police Department in your prayers,” Kiggans stated. “May justice be served swiftly for those accountable.”
