On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that he would adopt a firm approach regarding the situation in Gaza on Saturday. This Palestinian territory currently faces a delicate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the militant group involved in the ongoing conflict. Trump has previously suggested a potential US administration of Gaza.
Hamas has stated its intention not to release any hostages on Saturday, breaking the terms of the ceasefire-hostage agreement due to its claims that Israel has not upheld its part of the deal.
Trump Issues a Stark Warning to Hamas
In light of Hamas’s announcement, Trump cautioned that failure to release hostages by 12 p.m. on Saturday would result in a significant escalation of the situation. “Let all hell break loose,” he declared, emphasizing that Israel would ultimately make the call regarding the ceasefire.
Trump further stated, “If the hostages from Gaza are not returned by Saturday at noon, I would suggest canceling the ceasefire. Israel can take action as they see fit.” He insisted that all hostages must be released simultaneously, rather than in increments.
Despite Hamas’s earlier threats, the group is anticipated to release Sagui Dekel Chen, Alexander Sasha Troufanov, and Iair Horn on Saturday.
