Former President Donald Trump has appointed Dan Bongino as the new deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is fantastic news for law enforcement and American justice. Dan Bongino, who has shown immense dedication and love for our country, will serve as the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, under the remarkable Kash Patel, who is destined to be the best Director this agency has ever had.”
The president highlighted Bongino’s academic background, noting that he holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the City University of New York and an MBA from Penn State.
Trump added, “Bongino was once part of the New York Police Department (known as New York’s Finest!) and later distinguished himself as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. Today, he is also one of the country’s leading podcasters, a career he is prepared to set aside for this pivotal role. Together with our new U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Director Patel, we will swiftly restore fairness, justice, and law and order in America. Congratulations, Dan!”

Additionally, Bongino has a history as a Fox News host.
In response to the announcement, Bongino expressed his gratitude on social media platform X, stating, “Thank you, Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel.”
Kash Patel recently took an oath as the FBI’s ninth director following a narrow Senate confirmation of 51-49.
Patel, a notable critic of the investigations targeting Trump and a key player during Trump’s allegations of election fraud in 2020, assured during his confirmation hearing that he would not pursue political retaliation against agents involved in the classified documents investigation related to Trump or other sensitive issues.
This confirmation comes amidst heightened scrutiny regarding the FBI’s actions, leadership decisions, and personnel choices, as many are on the lookout for indications of politicization or retaliation.

During Trump’s first term, Patel held several key national security positions, including chief of staff to acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller, senior advisor for the acting director of national intelligence, and in the National Security Council.
