Tragic Plane Collision Near Scottsdale Airport Claims One Life and Injures Four
In a devastating incident at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday, one individual has lost their life, and four others sustained injuries after two aircraft collided on the ground, according to official reports.
Authorities revealed that the collision occurred "off the runway" at approximately 2:39 p.m. Scottsdale Fire Captain Dave Folio confirmed that first responders found one person deceased upon their arrival at the scene.
Among the injured, two victims were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition, while another individual’s treatment was delayed, and the condition remains undisclosed. Additionally, a fourth person declined medical assistance at the site.
An airport spokesperson, Kelli Kuester, shared during a news briefing that one of the landing gears on the arriving plane failed during landing, which contributed to the incident. This particular flight was arriving from Austin, Texas.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) indicated that a Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing, resulting in a collision with a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet.
As a precautionary measure, all flights at the airport were temporarily halted, and an investigation into the crash is currently underway. Captain Folio emphasized the ongoing nature of the situation, stating, "This is still an active scene," and therefore he could not provide further details about the collision.
Kuester described the aircraft involved as "midsize business jets" and noted that the arriving plane crashed into a jet that was "parked on private property" adjacent to the airport facilities.
The tail number of the arriving aircraft is registered to Chromed in Hollywood, LLC, a company incorporated in Wyoming with Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe listed as president and director. The company’s headquarters are in Franklin, Tennessee, which is also Neil’s hometown.
As of now, representatives for Vince Neil and the band have not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
