S&P 500 futures rose slightly on Wednesday evening as traders digested recent corporate earnings results while awaiting additional inflation metrics.

Futures related to the broad index increased nearly 0.2%, whereas Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 0.3%. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 72 points, representing an increase of around 0.2%.

In extended trading, Reddit shares plummeted by more than 13% after disappointing user numbers surprised analysts. Conversely, Dutch Bros experienced a surge of about 25% following an announcement of earnings and same-store sales that exceeded expectations.

The stock market experienced a mixed performance on Wall Street prior to this news. The Dow saw a drop of over 200 points, while the S&P 500 declined by 0.3% after the recently released consumer price index data indicated inflation was higher than expected for January. In contrast, the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite closed slightly higher due to significant gains in Palantir and Tesla, which increased by more than 4% and 2%, respectively.

Scott Helfstein, head of investment strategy at Global X, noted, “This inflation report poses challenges as the White House considers further tariffs while consumer inflation expectations are rising. Although this doesn’t dampen our overall positivity towards both the economy and the stock market, it certainly requires close attention.”

On Thursday, investors will look for updates from the producer price index, which assesses wholesale inflation, as well as weekly jobless claims figures set for release in the morning.

The earnings season continues with major firms such as Airbnb, Coinbase, and Palo Alto Networks anticipated to present their results after Thursday’s market close. So far, of the over 69% of S&P 500 companies that have reported, nearly 77% have exceeded analyst projections, according to FactSet.
