Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (AP) — In a recent indoor match at TGL, Tiger Woods faced a challenging moment when he miscalculated a distance of 199 yards to the hole. His teammates from Jupiter Links, Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim, only realized the mix-up too late.
Seeking clarity on the yardage, Woods received a confirmation of 99 yards, as caddies tend to drop the first digit when the distance seems obvious. However, it turned out to be anything but clear for Woods.
He chose to strike his wedge, delivering a solid shot that covered only 100 yards.
“I heard 99 yards, so I went out there and hit it,” the 15-time major champion recounted after losing the 13th hole to Cameron Young from New York Golf Club.
“This might just be one of the most embarrassing moments of my golfing career,” Woods remarked during the ESPN broadcast, chuckling at the unexpected twist. “I really messed that one up. It was quite embarrassing.”
His teammates found humor in the situation, bursting into laughter on the floor.
Overall, New York maintained control throughout the match, achieving a decisive 10-3 victory.
