The New Orleans Saints have taken a strategic step by hiring one of Head Coach Kellen Moore’s key assistants.

According to Nick Underhill from NewOrleans.Football, the team has brought in Doug Nussmeier as their new offensive coordinator.

At 54 years old, Nussmeier emerged as the leading candidate for this position, thanks to his extensive experience collaborating with Moore at the Cowboys, Chargers, and Eagles. He initially joined the Cowboys as their tight ends coach from 2018 to 2019 and later transitioned to the role of quarterbacks coach from 2020 to 2022.

In 2023, Nussmeier served as the quarterbacks coach in Los Angeles, followed by a similar position in Philadelphia in 2024.

This new role will also bring Nussmeier closer to his son, Garrett, who plays as a quarterback for LSU, with home games taking place just a short distance away in Baton Rouge.
