The recent teaser for Rainbow Six Siege X at the R6 Invitational has set the stage for something monumental in the competitive shooting landscape.
Recognized for its tactical gameplay that remains unmatched by other titles, Rainbow Six Siege allows players to customize strategies by erecting barriers, shooting through walls, and utilizing each Operator’s unique abilities to gather intel and gain a competitive edge.
Nonetheless, this intricate gameplay also poses a significant barrier for newcomers. While Rainbow Six Siege experienced remarkable growth in its initial years, that momentum has largely plateaued.
To rejuvenate the game and draw in new players, Ubisoft is set to launch a comprehensive revamp titled Rainbow Six Siege: X, likely coinciding with the game’s 10th anniversary.
Significant Year 10 Updates for Rainbow Six Siege
Having launched in late 2015, Rainbow Six Siege is approaching its 10-year milestone. Despite various significant updates throughout the years, the game’s foundation is beginning to show its age.
In response, Ubisoft has announced Rainbow Six Siege X, a major update that will introduce significant changes to the game’s core mechanics.
Although this is not a direct sequel, it essentially functions as one. Ubisoft is so convinced of its success that a ticketed event will showcase the game in full on March 13th.
This update has been under development for three years, reaffirming that it’s meant to stay true to the original vision of the game while enhancing it with new features.
As a precursor to this update, the first Operation of the year, titled Prep Phase, serves as a lead-in to further details about the “new era” of Rainbow Six Siege X.
Initial glimpses of the update draw comparisons to Counter-Strike 2, which redefined its gameplay while maintaining the essence of its predecessor despite being labeled a sequel.
