The most recent update from the Holy See Press Office reveals, “Pope Francis rested well throughout the night.”
The Holy Father is currently receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for bronchitis and pneumonia. A previous health report indicated that he is also exhibiting mild renal insufficiency, which appears to be well-managed.
In a statement released on Monday evening, it was noted that despite the seriousness of his condition, the Pope has shown signs of slight improvement. “There were no asthma-like respiratory episodes reported [on Monday], and several laboratory results indicate progress. The monitoring of his mild kidney issue has not raised any alarms. Oxygen therapy is ongoing, but with a slightly lower flow and oxygen concentration,” the statement elaborated.
It was highlighted that the medical team is adopting a “cautious” outlook due to the complexity of his health condition.
Monday’s Activities
The Press Office confirmed that Pope Francis received the Holy Eucharist on Monday morning and continued his official duties in the afternoon.
In line with his usual practice, the Pope reached out to the pastor of Holy Family parish in Gaza, expressing his compassionate support for the community there. Reports suggest that the parishioners had sent a video message to the Pope, to which he expressed his gratitude during their conversation.
To conclude the evening update, the Pope conveyed his heartfelt thanks “to the entire People of God, who have united in prayer for his health during this time.”
