“The Pope had a peaceful night and rested well. This morning, he read the newspapers and enjoyed breakfast as usual. His therapy is ongoing, and another update will be provided at 5 PM,”
stated Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office, to journalists on Sunday in regard to Pope Francis’ health following his hospital admission.
Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital on Friday due to a persistent case of bronchitis.
After undergoing medical tests, adjustments were made to his medication, and he has not shown any signs of fever since then.
To support his recovery, the Pope’s medical team has prescribed “complete rest.” Consequently, the special Jubilee Audience for Artists and the World of Culture scheduled for Saturday was canceled. Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonca, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, conducted Holy Mass on the Pope’s behalf on Sunday morning.
The text prepared by Pope Francis for his Sunday Angelus address was released by the Holy See Press Office, as requested by the Holy Father.
As noted by Matteo Bruni during his morning briefing, the next health update regarding the Pope is anticipated at 5 PM, Rome time.
