The Holy See Press Office has provided an update to the media, revealing that Pope Francis enjoyed a tranquil sixth night at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for double pneumonia. This morning, he had breakfast while seated in an armchair.

According to a statement issued by the Holy See Press Office on Thursday morning, “Pope Francis experienced a restful night and this morning, he got out of bed to have breakfast in an armchair.”
The Pope is being cared for at Gemelli Hospital in Rome due to double pneumonia.
A report from Wednesday evening mentioned that the Holy Father’s health condition is “stable,” and that blood tests reviewed by his medical team indicate a slight improvement, particularly in terms of inflammatory markers.
After his breakfast, Pope Francis took some time to read the newspapers and then engaged with his close aides. Before lunch, he also received the Eucharist.
In the afternoon, he welcomed a visit from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with whom he spent 20 minutes in private discussion.
Earlier in the week, the Holy See Press Office shared insights from the Pope’s physicians, highlighting that due to the complexity of his medical situation, an extended hospital stay would be necessary.
