Breaking News: Netflix encounters a significant issue. On Thursday, reports surfaced online indicating that certain Netflix content was appearing in the Apple TV app. The absence of any official announcement, coupled with numerous bugs, raised skepticism about the validity of this news. Nonetheless, users expressed their excitement across social media, exclaiming “FINALLY!” while sharing celebratory GIFs. Unfortunately, their celebrations were short-lived as Netflix later revealed that this integration was unintentional.

A spokesperson from Netflix informed The Verge on Friday that the integration with the Apple TV app was a mistake, which has since been reversed. Indeed, users on Reddit who had been following this unexpected development noted that all traces of Netflix content had disappeared from the Apple streaming platform. It seems Netflix gives and then takes away.

While the glitch was active, PC World reported that it allowed users to add Netflix originals, such as Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, and The Crown, but did not include licensed movies and shows. The available content was riddled with issues; for instance, only season five of The Crown was accessible, leaving viewers baffled about the series’ events during or after the grunge era. Additionally, features like “Add to Watchlist” and “Continue Watching” showed inconsistent performance.

While it’s tempting to speculate that this error resulted from an internal testing phase that was mistakenly made public, it’s wise not to get carried away with assumptions. For now, viewers will need to stick to the Netflix app for their favorites, while Apple’s platform remains the place for a cherished rewatch of The Sopranos (available via Max), The Bear (via Hulu), and Apple’s own Silo.
