LeBron James has announced that he will not be participating in tonight’s All-Star Game, as revealed during a pregame press conference (watch the video here, with thanks to Tomer Azarly).
“You won’t see me out there tonight,” he stated. “Unfortunately, I won’t be in uniform this evening. I’m still dealing with some discomfort in my ankle and foot.”
LeBron was set to make his 21st appearance in the All-Star Game, joining Shaq’s team in the newly introduced four-team mini-tournament format. His absence means the team will continue with seven players, as he will not be replaced.
Looking ahead, James is optimistic about his return for the next Lakers game on Wednesday against Charlotte, according to a tweet from Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times here. He has already missed four regular season games this season.
