SAN FRANCISCO — LeBron James announced he will not participate in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game due to persistent pain in his left foot and ankle, as stated before the game on Sunday.

The 40-year-old forward missed the Lakers’ victory against the Indiana Pacers last weekend for the same reason.

“I was hoping it would feel significantly better this morning, but it wasn’t where I wanted it to be,” said James regarding his ankle discomfort.

James expressed optimism about being available for the Lakers’ first game after the All-Star break, which will be against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Currently, the Lakers sit at fifth place in the Western Conference, having triumphed in 12 of their last 15 outings as they head into the break.

“With 30 games remaining and us striving for a playoff position in the competitive Western Conference, I believed it was crucial to prioritize my health and be mindful of what lies ahead,” James remarked.

This marks the first All-Star Game James will miss in his illustrious career, following his selection as a starter for an unprecedented 21st consecutive year in 2025.
