On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stood firm on his controversial proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and transform the area into upscale housing. This remark came during a meeting in the Oval Office with King Abdullah II of Jordan, who pointed out the strong disapproval from the Arab world regarding Trump’s plan.

Trump reiterated his stance that Palestinians should be moved from the war-torn territory to specific “parcels” in third countries, including Jordan, despite the leaders of those nations expressing reservations.

Abdullah, who was sitting beside Trump, did not directly dismiss the president’s proposal. However, his discomfort was evident, hinting that he would propose alternative solutions for Gaza.

“We must consider the plan from Egypt and other Arab nations,” Abdullah remarked. “The question is, how can we implement this in a manner that benefits all parties involved?”

Later, Abdullah advised caution, saying, “Let’s not rush into this,” while Trump remained committed to advancing his proposal that he had unveiled just a week prior.

Discussion on aid to Jordan: Trump asserted Tuesday that he does not need to use financial aid as leverage to persuade Jordan to accept Palestinians from Gaza under his proposed plan for U.S. governance of the area.

When pressed about the possibility of withholding aid from Jordan and Egypt should they reject his plan, Trump replied, “I prefer not to say that because our relationship has been so positive, especially in recent discussions,” while seated next to King Abdullah.

“No, I believe we’ll work something out. I don’t need to resort to threats about funding,” Trump confidently stated from the Oval Office. “I think we’re past that point,” he added.
