Federal authorities have revealed that burglary rings from South America, with many operatives residing in the U.S. illegally or who have overstayed their visas, are increasingly targeting affluent residences. These criminals have been stealing high-value items, including jewelry and memorabilia from professional athletes. Notable victims of these break-ins include Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks.

In addition to players like Conley and Towns, numerous prominent athletes in Minnesota have fallen prey to similar burglary incidents. This includes Minnesota Twins co-owner Jim Pohlad, former Timberwolves star Troy Hudson, and ex-Minnesota Viking Linval Joseph.

Pohlad’s residence, valued at $5.5 million and located near Lake Bde Maka Ska, was targeted on October 9, 2023, as reported by Minneapolis police. The security team observed the burglary in real-time through live surveillance footage, according to official records.

On September 13, Hudson’s Minnetonka property, worth approximately $1 million, was hit by thieves who stole valuable designer jewelry, a $3,500 handbag, and an unloaded firearm, based on the police report.

Joseph’s residence was among four homes in Sunfish Lake that were burglarized in a similar manner on multiple dates, including September 27, October 26, and November 15, with Joseph’s home targeted on November 17 while he was playing for the Dallas Cowboys, according to police statements.

As of now, law enforcement officials in the Twin Cities have not made any arrests related to these burglary cases.
