Jason Peters has officially announced his retirement from professional football.

During a press conference at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Seahawks General Manager John Schneider confirmed that Peters has made the decision to step away from the game after a remarkable 20-year career. According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Peters will transition into a role within the team’s player engagement department.

In 2023, Peters played his last eight games with the Seahawks and was subsequently part of the practice squad in 2024, although he did not make it onto the active roster.

After going undrafted in 2004, Peters began his career with the Buffalo Bills, where he received second-team All-Pro honors in his final two seasons with the franchise. He then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009, contributing to the team’s success until the end of the 2020 season. During his time with the Eagles, Peters achieved first-team All-Pro accolades twice and was instrumental in their victory at Super Bowl LII. He also had stints with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys before wrapping up his playing career in Seattle.

Peters earned nine Pro Bowl selections and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-2010s team, solidifying his legacy and making him a strong contender for future induction into the Hall of Fame in five years.
