At least 14 pedestrians suffered injuries following a terrorist incident on Highway 65 near the Pardes Hanna-Karkur intersection, as confirmed by the Israel Police on Thursday afternoon.
Reports from Israeli media indicated that two police officers were attacked with a screwdriver at the scene located at the Karkur intersection.
The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera reported treating 14 victims from this incident; one person is in critical condition, two are classified as serious, and three are in moderate condition. Among those critically injured is a 17-year-old girl, according to MDA.
Later that evening, a MDA helicopter transported two individuals in serious condition from Hillel Yaffe Hospital to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer. This included the teenage girl, who has sustained head and limb injuries and is currently sedated and on a ventilator, and a 76-year-old man also requiring sedation and ventilation due to a head injury.
The assailant was shot and killed by the Israel Police. Initially, reports indicated that the suspect was a 24-year-old Israeli Arab from Ma’ale Iron with no previous criminal or security history. However, subsequent updates from the police revealed that the assailant was actually a 50-year-old Palestinian who had been living illegally in Israel for over a decade, originating from the northern West Bank.
