An Israel Air Force strike successfully targeted and eliminated Mohammed Mahdi Ali Shaheen, a known Hezbollah operative, in the Hermel region of Lebanon, as reported by the military on Friday.
Shaheen played a crucial role in managing arms transactions along the Syrian-Lebanese border during the ceasefire in place between Israel and Lebanon.
As a prominent figure in Hezbollah’s Geographical Unit, he was involved in negotiations for weapon purchases and facilitated the transfer of these supplies to various Hezbollah factions.
To achieve this, Shaheen collaborated with numerous smugglers and dealers operating in the Syria-Lebanon border area, according to information released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Addressing a ‘Violation of Agreements’
The military emphasized that “Shaheen’s activities represented a significant danger to the State of Israel, breaching the established agreements between Israel and Lebanon,” as articulated in their announcement.
