The highly anticipated release date for Elden Ring Nightreign has finally been revealed.

This exciting spin-off from FromSoftware, known for its incredible success with Elden Ring, is set to launch on May 30, 2025. It will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox consoles, and PC (Steam).

First showcased at last year’s Game Awards, Nightreign offers a unique standalone online co-op experience for three players, drawing inspiration from elements familiar to Fortnite.

In this thrilling game, players must endure a cycle lasting three days, navigating a vast, randomized map filled with unique challenges and events, while a looming blue firestorm draws closer, culminating in an intense boss encounter.

After successfully overcoming two nighttime boss battles, players will confront one of eight formidable Nightlords.

Since its initial announcement, more insights about Nightreign have emerged, including the confirmation that it will feature bosses from previous Dark Souls installments and a poison swamp area with randomized map changes.

While the game requires three players at all times, publisher Bandai Namco has indicated that solo adventurers can either play offline alone (without AI companions) or team up online with others. Players have the option to queue solo, partner up, or join an established group of three.

Recently, I had the opportunity to go hands-on with Nightreign, and despite my initial concerns about a multiplayer-focused Elden Ring title, I was pleasantly surprised by its pace—thanks to a dynamic parkour system and an efficient leveling process—alongside a strong sense of teamwork when facing classic bosses.

“Nightreign serves up a satisfying dose of Elden Ring in an engaging, repeatable format,” I noted. “It delivers the challenge, the progression, the epic boss battles, and the thrill of discovery—all at a quicker pace, presenting a fresh challenge, while its grim roster of enemies feels like a curated selection from the best of Souls, leaving me excited for more.”

Players will get a chance to experience this same build during the Nightreign beta test this weekend, exclusive to those who registered earlier. The testing phase is scheduled from February 14 to February 17, featuring a series of three-hour sessions.

The beta will allow players to choose from four out of the eight final Nightfarers, each with unique abilities: Wylder (all-rounder), The Guardian (tank), The Recluse (mage), and The Duchess (rogue).
