
In the latest PlayStation State of Play event, we were treated to an exciting preview of what’s in store for the PS5 in 2025. This showcase featured a mix of highly anticipated upcoming games—some familiar and some new—alongside updates for titles that have already been released. However, don’t hold your breath for a multitude of fresh first-party PlayStation reveals.

Monster Hunter Wilds
The event kicked off with a tantalizing glimpse of Monster Hunter Wilds! This latest chapter in the iconic franchise is set to launch on 28th February for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The trailer showcased a variety of formidable monsters you’ll have to battle.
Additionally, we got a sneak peek at the first free update arriving in spring 2025, featuring the impressive Mizutsune monster, with another update scheduled for summer.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
Next up was Shinobi: Art of Vengeance from Sega, a stylish hack-and-slash adventure where vengeance is the name of the game. Scheduled for release on 29th August 2025, it will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Sega then shifted gears, introducing us to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, featuring the iconic speedster behind the wheel. This thrilling racing game will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and a closed network test is scheduled to commence on 21st February.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger
Surprise! The beloved Digimon franchise reappeared with Digimon Story: Time Stranger, featuring time-traveling adventures. Slated for a 2025 release on PS5, it promises to be an exciting addition for fans.
Lost Soul Aside
Lost Soul Aside invites players to explore realms and dimensions to thwart an impending monstrous invasion, featuring a unique talking sword.
This title is set to launch on 30th May 2025 for PS5 and PC.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
Exciting news for Yakuza fans! A demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be available on 13th February 2025, with the full release scheduled for 21st February across PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Dave the Diver – Ichiban’s Holiday
The Like a Dragon franchise continues to shine with the upcoming Dave the Diver content, Ichiban’s Holiday, arriving in April 2025 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and PC. We can’t wait to see who’s joining Dave on this adventure!
Splitgate 2
If you’re looking forward to Splitgate 2, be sure to join the PS5 alpha test starting 27th February 2025. This shooter combines exhilarating combat with portal mechanics. Splitgate 2 will also be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
WWE 2K25
We also got a sneak peek at WWE 2K25, featuring a new online hub known as ‘The Island’ for players to explore. Expect its debut on 14th March 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 is on the horizon, and fans can look forward to a glimpse of new weapons and abilities for epic mayhem! A dedicated State of Play is planned for this spring for more information on this installment, set to release on 23rd September 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Split Fiction
Introducing Split Fiction from the creators of It Takes Two. In this cooperative adventure, you will navigate the storylines of two writers as they unravel their collaborative narrative. Expect its release on 6th March for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Directive 8020
The creators of Until Dawn and The Quarry have unveiled Directive 8020, promising a thrilling sci-fi horror experience. Players will embark on a space odyssey filled with peril and extraterrestrial threats, with a release planned for 2nd October for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic
The haunting world of Five Nights at Freddy’s is back! This time, players will venture into a mysterious warehouse to track down a malfunctioning costume with the ability to change its appearance. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic is set for a 13th June 2025 release on PS5.
The Midnight Walk
We also got a glimpse of The Midnight Walk, a claymation adventure that’s both visually stunning and slightly eerie. Your goal is to restore light to this world while navigating past various monsters. The game is expected to be released on 8th May for PC, PS5, and PS VR2.
Darwin’s Paradox!
Gear up for adventure with Darwin’s Paradox! You will take on the role of an octopus striving to escape a food processing facility—all while dealing with aliens! Look forward to its launch on PS5 later in 2025.
Warriors: Abyss
From Koei Tecmo Games, Warriors: Abyss takes the famous franchise into roguelike territory. Players will embark on a challenging journey through the depths of hell. It officially launches today on PS5 and PS4!
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny
Relive nostalgia with Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, now enhanced with upgraded controls and HD graphics. This timeless classic will be available on 23rd May for PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Continuing the Onimusha saga, we were delighted to see the trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, arriving in 2026. Expect fierce battles against numerous foes, with a talking gauntlet at your side. This title will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater
Solid Snake makes a triumphant return in this new entry that dives into the intricate lore of Metal Gear Solid (though not everyone may be familiar with it). Get ready for intense stealth gameplay and combat action in the highly anticipated release on 28th August 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Hell is Us
Rogue Factor’s upcoming supernatural action-adventure game, Hell is Us, takes players on a perilous journey in search of a missing person amidst a civil war in Hadea. Encounter human foes and supernatural elements alike. If you want more details, check out our earlier coverage. Hell is Us will launch on 4th September for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Lies of P: Overture DLC
The prequel DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, will allow players to step back into the shoes of P once again in this action-RPG inspired by The Adventures of Pinocchio. The DLC is set to debut in Summer 2025 on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, and PC.
Dreams of Another
We were treated to a unique trailer for Dreams of Another, which appears to be a surrealistic shooter game. Judging by the visuals, it promises to be an intriguing experience when it arrives in 2025 on PS5 and PS VR2.
Days Gone Remastered
Relive the journey in Days Gone with a remastered edition featuring fresh content, including a speedrunning mode. This edition will launch on 25th April 2025, and those owning Days Gone on PS4 can upgrade to the digital version for just $10. The new modes will also be available as part of the Broken Road DLC on PC.
Stellar Blade & Goddess of Victory: Nikke DLC
Get excited for Stellar Blade’s upcoming DLC in June 2025! In collaboration with Goddess of Victory: Nikke, this update brings new outfits, boss battles, and collectible items.
PlayStation Plus Updates
Next up, we previewed the upcoming games for PS Plus, set to release on 18th February 2025. Titles include Jedi Survivor, TopSpin 2K25, and Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, which will be released episodically. July also marks the arrival of Patapon 3 for the Classic Catalogue, alongside more Armored Core titles—exact dates yet to be confirmed.
Blue Prince
Blue Prince is an intriguing indie title coming to the catalog in Spring 2025. Players will explore an enigmatic manor with rooms that seem to rearrange themselves.
This game will launch on PS5, along with a PC version available from Day One.
Abiotic Factor
Abiotic Factor is set to be a six-player survival-crafting game where you’ll need to build traps to secure your underground haven. Expect to see it in Summer 2025 on PS5, and like Blue Prince, it will be included in the game catalog on launch day.
Tides of Annihilation
The next trailer showcased a ravaged London, echoing the themes of Arthurian legend. With lore and local accents richly infused into gameplay, Gwendoline’s character might evoke Queen Guinevere’s spirit as she navigates this epic saga, currently under development for PS5.
Metal Eden
From Reikon Games, the creators behind Ruiner, Metal Eden transports players to the planet’s core where they must defeat enemies on their quest for the core itself. This cyberpunk shooter will be available on 6th May for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
MindsEye
MindsEye promises a thrilling narrative involving cutting-edge technology that affects your memories and bodily autonomy. It has garnered attention thanks to its engaging gameplay trailers, showcasing both story elements and interactive play. Fans can catch a glimpse of its captivating visuals now, with a release set for the summer of 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Saros
Continuing the sci-fi theme, Saros is a new title from Housemarque, where players confront monstrous foes on a dying planet. Scheduled for a 2026 release, it aims to optimize gaming experiences on the PS5 Pro. Keep an eye out for a gameplay trailer unveiling later this year.
