The GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 are incredibly powerful graphics cards; however, there are concerns regarding potential overheating issues related to power connectors. While these premium models may appeal to enthusiasts, most consumers—especially discerning and tech-savvy readers—are unlikely to invest $1,000 or even $2,000 (or more) on a new GPU this generation.
In reality, you, like the majority of gamers, will probably choose a more budget-friendly midrange graphics card from Nvidia or AMD. These GPUs are expected to start shipping either later this month or in early March.
This week has seen a flurry of announcements in the graphics card space. Nvidia revealed that the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, first introduced at CES, will be available on February 20, starting at $749. While this new model appears to be a slight upgrade from last year’s RTX 4070 Ti Super, it aims to offer a more accessible option for gamers who want to experience native 4K resolution without exclusively relying on DLSS upscaling to achieve smooth frame rates.
RTX 5070 Ti | RTX 4070 Ti Super | RTX 5070 | RTX 4070 Super | |

However, based on the launches of the RTX 5090 and 5080, finding the RTX 5070 Ti at or near its retail price may prove challenging, as initial listings suggest prices could be significantly higher. Additionally, you will need to depend solely on Nvidia’s partners to provide straightforward, MSRP versions of these cards, as Nvidia will not be producing a Founders Edition.
Regarding the more economical RTX 5070, Nvidia’s website indicates that it will debut on March 5 for $549. Unfortunately, this model is less compelling than its counterparts due to having fewer CUDA cores than the previous RTX 4070 Super, making it more dependent on AI-generated frames for performance enhancements compared to earlier models.
