The wealthy may be about to see even more wealth accumulation.
Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman is reported to be “preparing for a major move” after the team’s triumphant Super Bowl victory in 2025. His target? Myles Garrett, the disgruntled star of the Cleveland Browns, as highlighted by Dianna Russini from The Athletic.
On a recent episode of her podcast, “Scoop City,” Russini shared, “Rumors suggest that Howie is open to parting with some players as he aims for a significant acquisition, and that acquisition could be Myles Garrett.”
“Some individuals you’d assume are guarantees to stay in Philadelphia might not return,” she added.
The discussion also mentioned linebacker Zack Baun, who is set to enter free agency, with Russini noting the importance of retaining him as part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning roster. Reports indicate that securing Baun is a “top priority” for Philadelphia, as per recent updates.
Defensive end Josh Sweat is another player facing free agency.
The Eagles are riding high after their impressive 40-22 victory over the reigning champion Chiefs in the latest Super Bowl held in New Orleans.
Garrett, a six-time Pro Bowl defensive end, has expressed his desire to move, emphasizing his aspiration for a Super Bowl victory.
In his public trade request, the 29-year-old stated, “While I’ve appreciated my time in this city, my ambition to compete at the highest level drives my decision. My goal has always been to chase a Super Bowl victory, not merely to transition from Cleveland.”
This news follows recent developments where Cleveland.com reported that Garrett and his representatives have “closed the door” on contract negotiations with the Browns.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry has stated that the franchise is reluctant to entertain trade offers for the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year.
After a disappointing 3-14 season in 2024 that left the Browns outside of playoff contention, the team now holds the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, which they may utilize to select a new quarterback as Deshaun Watson recovers from an Achilles injury.
Watson underwent surgery in January due to a ruptured tendon, having initially torn his Achilles in October.
Garrett explicitly stated in December that he’s “not interested in a rebuild,” asserting to ESPN that he’s “focused on winning right now.”
Selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett’s future remains a topic of intense interest.
