In a thrilling matchup on Saturday, Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin netted the decisive goal during the second period, leading the United States to a 3-1 victory over Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off held at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

With this win, Team USA improves its record to 2-0-0-0, earning a total of six points, and secures a spot in the championship game scheduled for Thursday in Boston at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Team USA will conclude its round-robin stage against Sweden on Monday at 8 p.m., which will be broadcast on TNT and TruTV. Meanwhile, Canada is set to face Finland earlier that day at 1 p.m. at the TD Garden in Boston.

Canada, Finland, and Sweden are all tied with two points each as they vie for the remaining spot in the championship game.

Larkin was instrumental in the game, assisting Jake Guentzel’s empty-net goal that solidified the U.S. lead at 3-1 with just 1:19 left on the clock. This marked Guentzel’s second goal of the night.

Larkin found the back of the net at 13:33 in the second period, skillfully sliding a shot past Jordan Binnington during a two-on-one opportunity.

Canada took an early lead when Connor McDavid scored at 5:31 of the first period, launching a backhand shot past Connor Hellebuyck after dashing through the neutral zone.

The U.S. quickly equalized at 10:15 in the first period, with Guentzel converting a pass from Jack Eichel.

Finland 4, Sweden 3 (OT): In another exciting contest, Mikael Granlund clinched a victory for Finland by scoring just 1:49 into overtime, rebounding from a previous 6-1 defeat against the U.S. Granlund fired a shot between Linus Ullmark’s pads during a three-on-one rush. Contributions from Anton Lundell, Mikko Rantanen (on the power play), and Aleksander Barkov also helped Finland secure the win, while Sweden’s scoring came from Mika Zibanejad, Rasmus Dahlin, and Erik Karlsson. Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond assisted in the match, bringing his total to three points in two games—all assists—while logging 18:30 in ice time.
