Sigma has introduced the BF, a compact camera featuring a 24.6-megapixel full-frame sensor, crafted to celebrate the fundamental joy of photography. Its design is refreshingly minimalist, incorporating only three buttons, a dial, and a shutter release.
With dimensions of 5.1 by 2.9 by 1.4 inches (129.5 by 73.7 by 35.6 millimeters) and a lightweight build of 13.7 ounces (388 grams), the L-mount Sigma BF aims to enhance the pleasure of photography by minimizing distractions. Sigma has developed a simple and intuitive user interface that distinguishes itself from contemporary cameras. Essential photography settings are clearly visible on the live view screen, secondary options are accessible through an optional menu, and advanced settings are organized in a dedicated system menu.
Sigma claims that photographers can effortlessly adjust vital parameters, including shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, and color mode with just a simple touch.
The Sigma BF also features haptic feedback on its dial and buttons, ensuring that each interaction feels precise and enjoyable.
The default layout on the back display, boasting around 2.1 million dots in resolution, is designed to present only essential information. Additionally, Sigma has devised a method to further streamline this view, allowing photographers to focus entirely on their images. Current active settings are shown on a separate status monitor, preserving a clean view on the main live screen.
According to Sigma, the BF features an unprecedented “true unibody” design, meticulously crafted from a single block of aluminum, a process that requires seven hours to complete. This construction enhances durability and perfectly balances with any lens attached.
In addition to its durable construction, the Sigma BF comes equipped with a 230GB SSD that can store more than 14,000 JPEG images, 4,300 uncompressed RAW files, or up to 2.5 hours of high-quality video. Transferring data is seamless via USB-C for immediate access to your photos and videos.
The camera’s 24.6-megapixel sensor boasts a native ISO range from 100 to 102,400, expandable to lower values of 6, 12, 25, and 50 for greater versatility.
This model features a hybrid autofocus system that integrates phase detection and contrast detection technologies, employing advanced algorithms for swift and precise focusing on subjects, including people and pets through a specially designed detection mode.
The Sigma BF is capable of recording video in stunning 6K resolution and supports L-Log in both H.264 and H.265 formats at frame rates up to 29.97 fps in 6K and 4K. It can also achieve an impressive 119.88 fps in 1080p Full HD.
This compact camera offers a range of 13 different color modes, including Standard, Rich, Calm, Powder Blue, Warm Gold, Teal, Orange, FOV Classic Blue, FOV Classic Yellow, Forest Green, Sunset Red, Cinema, 709 Look, and Monochrome, thereby expanding your creative possibilities.

The Sigma BF will be available in black or silver, with a planned release date in April 2025. Both color options will have a retail price of $1,999.
Sigma is also refreshing its I Series of compact prime lenses, introducing a silver option for the L-mount lenses to complement the silver finish of the BF model. The laser engraving on the body and product badge will also be updated across all nine black models of the Sigma I series for L-Mount and Sony E-mount lenses, with the 45mm f/2.8 DG lens supporting a new magnetic metal lens cap as well. The optical performance and design will remain unchanged, with these updates rolled out for L-mount in April and E-mount beginning in May.
