Ubisoft recently shared its outlook for Assassin’s Creed Shadows in its latest quarterly financial report, noting that pre-orders for the game have been “solid.”
Although specific pre-order figures were not disclosed, the company indicated that they are “comparable to those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which is the second-best-performing title in the franchise.”
The top-selling installment in the series is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which debuted in late 2020.
The twice-delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a pivotal game for Ubisoft, particularly as the company navigates budget cuts and a potential sale, following the underwhelming performance of last year’s Star Wars Outlaws.
Today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expressed optimism, stating that “early previews have been encouraging” for the game. He praised the remarkable skill and commitment of the entire Assassin’s Creed team, emphasizing their hard work to ensure that Shadows meets the high expectations set for the franchise’s most ambitious installment yet.
“In parallel,” Guillemot added, “we are making significant progress on our cost-cutting initiatives.”
Ubisoft has already achieved financial reductions by making the “difficult but necessary” choice to lay off hundreds of employees and close multiple studios, including the one located in Leamington, UK, as reported.
“We intend to continue these efforts in FY26,” Guillemot warned, “exceeding our initial targets by a considerable margin.”
Our own Katharine noted that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the most significant transformation in years, having experienced the game firsthand, and commended its dual protagonist gameplay. “If Ubisoft can execute this successfully, it will justify the extended wait.”
