The Boston Red Sox wrapped up their offseason on a high note Wednesday evening with the announcement of Alex Bregman’s signing to a three-year contract.
After an impressive nine-season career with the Houston Astros, where he clinched two World Series titles, Bregman embarks on a new journey with the Red Sox, bringing a wealth of experience and achievement.
On Friday, Bregman took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the Astros organization, the city of Houston, and its passionate fanbase for their unwavering support during his tenure.
“Dear Houston, from the moment I donned an Astros uniform, I was enveloped by the warmth, enthusiasm, and spirit of this city,” Bregman shared. “Together, we triumphed — both on and off the diamond. With eight playoff appearances, seven trips to the ALCS, four World Series showdowns, and two championships to our name, we faced challenges head-on, supporting one another through tough times and joyfully celebrating our victories. More than just numbers, the city’s determination has left a lasting impact on me — Houston exemplifies resilience, knowing how to stand tall, rebuild, and persist. Whether enduring natural disasters or navigating the global pandemic, the community has consistently rallied together for philanthropic efforts, demonstrating a unity that only Houston can embody. We’ve shared our struggles, and it’s this bond that underscores the exceptional nature of this city and team. That tenacity is woven into the fabric of every individual lucky enough to call Houston home.”
He further expressed, “To the Astros organization — thank you for your trust in me, for inspiring me to reach new heights, and for enabling me to fulfill my dream. To my teammates — every day spent with you at the ballpark was a memory to treasure, and I will forever hold dear the moments we shared both on and off the field; we are family. To the fans — thank you for every cheer, chant, and show of support. I will never take our time together lightly. Houston, I extend my deepest thanks from the bottom of my heart. With love and appreciation, Alex.”
