Nintendo is not expected to reveal the price of the Switch 2 until the Nintendo Direct event on April 2, but a recent leak may have unveiled the figure ahead of time.
This week, Nintendo Wire reported that a staff member at a Canadian Costco shared images of an internal listing and an in-store price tag labeled “Nintendo Switch Place Holder,” which featured a misspelling as “Palce Holder,” on Famiboards.

Both images indicate a price of $499 CAD, which is $100 higher than the original Switch and $50 more than the Switch OLED’s current price in Canada. In the United States, Nintendo has the Switch listed at $299 and the OLED model at $349. Should this leaked listing pertain to the Switch 2, it suggests the next-gen console could launch at approximately $399 USD.
A price point of $399 aligns with projections made by analysts and industry insiders for several months, making it a plausible figure for Nintendo to adopt. The company recently mentioned during an investor meeting that they intend to prioritize “affordable pricing that aligns with consumer expectations” for the Switch 2.
Nevertheless, it remains possible that this listing is for an unannounced bundle of the original Switch, an error in the system, or a fabrication by the employee.
Ultimately, we will have confirmation on April 2 at the upcoming Nintendo Direct event.
