On Thursday morning, a school bus in Cleveland caught fire while on its regular route, according to local officials.
The Cleveland Heights Fire Department reported that there were no injuries, attributing this fortunate outcome to the prompt actions of the bus driver, who swiftly managed to evacuate the students as the flames intensified.
In a statement, the department praised the bus driver’s quick thinking, stating, “The bus driver acted quickly and got all of the students off the bus and to safety.”
The bus had just picked up several children and was en route to Monticello Middle School in Cleveland when the incident occurred.
After the students were safely removed from the bus, another vehicle from the district arrived to transport the children to school. Firefighters swiftly responded to the scene, with the department emphasizing that the fire was “quickly brought under control.”
Officials indicated that the blaze ignited at the intersection of Cambridge and Northampton in the Cleveland area.
Images released by the Cleveland Heights Fire Department depict thick smoke rising from the bus, along with vivid flames bursting from its windows.
